Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition and other factors. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. THREE SUBARU MODELS EARN 2021 KELLEY BLUE BOOK AWARDS: FORESTER, OUTBACK AND ASCENT ACHIEVE 5-YEAR COST TO OWN AWARDS
7 May, 2021

  • Subaru recently named best overall brand, most trusted brand and best performance brand

  • Brand achieves highest average score across all ratings for non-luxury models

(MISSISSAUGA, ONT.)— Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced three nameplates earn Kelley Blue Book category awards in the 10th annual 5-Year Cost to Own Awards. These awards recognize new vehicles with the lowest projected ownership costs over the initial five-year ownership period.

Just last month, Subaru was honoured in three major categories of the 2021 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards, including Best Overall Brand, Most Trusted Brand and Best Performance Brand. With this year’s acknowledgement, Subaru has now won Most Trusted Brand for seven consecutive years, in addition to its second consecutive and fourth time for Best Overall Brand award and five total Best Performance Brand awards. With the 2021 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards, the Subaru Forester, Outback and Ascent were each named winners in their respective vehicle categories.

Most people spend a lot of time researching and contemplating the up-front expense of purchasing a new car, but wise car shoppers also consider the total cost of ownership beyond just the initial sticker price. Ongoing costs like fuel, maintenance, insurance and even vehicle depreciation can vary greatly from one model to the next. These awards help shoppers make smart purchasing decisions.

“Subaru owners get more than just a promise on safety and reliability; Subaru vehicles come with a lifetime of dedication from our Subaru family to yours,” said Yasushi Enami, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. “This recognition symbolizes the values of confidence, loyalty and inspiring performance, which Subaru builds its foundation upon.”

Available for new models on Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com, 5-Year Cost to Own information takes into consideration depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees. This data allows new-car shoppers to see the big picture of what a new vehicle will cost them over time, helping them to save money by choosing a vehicle that best meets their needs and their long-term budget.
