Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition and other factors. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. See the owner’s manual or NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide for details.

Vehicle Identification Numbers are unique codes given to each on-road vehicle. Each new car is given a standardized 17-digit code, which includes a serial number. Older cars may have VINs too, although they will not follow the standardized formula. A VIN lets you unlock vital information about the vehicle and its history.
Locating VINs
You can find a VIN on the car itself and on a variety of documents.
Finding it on the Car
The two most common places are the dashboard and driver's side door jamb sticker. Other places to find it are on the engine and inside the hood.
Finding it on Paperwork
The VIN is always on vehicle title documents. It's also on insurance policies, service records and police reports for the vehicle.
November 2018:
The Subaru philosophy and brand statement, “Confidence in Motion,” speaks to who we are, what we believe and where we intend to go. Not coincidentally, it also speaks to who our customers are and why they choose to drive a Subaru — it unites them with all members of the Subaru team and everyone who has a stake in our brand. Confidence has been a key ingredient in every Subaru model ever built and the meaning behind our brand promise “Confidence in Motion” is and has always been the heart and soul of our company.
With this philosophy in mind, we have implemented a CVT Warranty Enhancement Program on certain 2010 to 2018 model year vehicles for a period of 10 years/160,000km's (whichever comes first) from the date it was sold to the first retail purchaser at an authorized Subaru Dealer in Canada.
If your covered vehicle already exceeds 160,000 km as of the date on your Owner Notification Letter, the CVT Warranty Enhancement Program will continue to cover your transmission with unlimited mileage for one year from the date on the letter.
Terms and Conditions of the Warranty Enhancement Program:
The Enhancement Program is effective immediately and requires no action on your part.
All other warranty terms, limitations and conditions listed in your Warranty/Maintenance and Roadside Assistance Booklet apply, including the automatic transfer of the program to any new owners of your vehicle.
The Warranty Enhancement Program does not limit or restrict coverage for vehicles within the original 3 year/60,000 Complete Vehicle Warranty, 5 year/100,000 km Major Component Warranty, or vehicles currently covered by a Subaru Protection Plan.
If you did not receive a letter notifying you of the Warranty Enhancement Program, you may confirm coverage by using the VIN lookup tool above.
Subaru Canada mailed notification letters to the last known owner we have on record. If you have recently moved or are a subsequent owner, you may update your customer information by visiting this page.
A copy of the letter is not necessary to receive assistance under the Warranty Enhancement Program. Every authorized Subaru Dealer in Canada may run a vehicle specific inquiry for full details of your warranty coverage.
If you would like a copy of the letter to keep on record, we would be happy to send you one by contacting us at 1-855-327-2455. Please have the last eight digits of your VIN ready before calling, as each letter is specific to the VIN of the covered vehicle.
The Warranty Enhancement Program applies to the vehicle and automatically transfers to any subsequent owners. If you have recently moved or are a subsequent owner, you may update your customer information by visiting this page.

The Enhancement Program is effective immediately and requires no action on your part.
The implementation of a Warranty Enhancement Program does not mean your vehicle requires repairs. If you believe you vehicle is operating normally, you can continue to enjoy your Subaru ownership experience.
When compared to vehicles equipped with traditional automatic transmissions, CVT vehicles do have some unique operational characteristics.
Please click here to view some of these operating characteristics.
If you have a particular concern or would just like reassurance that your CVT is working as designed, please contact your nearest authorized Subaru Dealer by following this link to schedule a free inspection and test of your CVT's operation and performance.
Your Subaru Dealer will test drive your vehicle and perform several diagnostic tests to verify your CVT is operating as designed. If you do have a particular concern please discuss it with your Service Consultant to ensure your concerns are addressed at the time of your appointment.
The diagnostic tests will take between 1 hour to 1.5 hours. However, you may be required to leave your vehicle at the dealership for longer to accommodate any scheduling restrictions or traffic conditions.
There are no special requirements to either receive or maintain the Enhanced Warranty Coverage. The inspection and testing process is only for those who may be concerned upon notification of the Enhancement Program.
Following the periodic inspection and maintenance services prescribed in your Warranty/Maintenance and Roadside Assistance Booklet is the best way to ensure your Subaru runs smoothly for years to come.
It is not necessary to check the transmission fluid level on a regular basis. The only regular maintenance requirement for the transmission is replacement of the CVT fluids and differential fluids at the following intervals:
- 2010 to 2011 Vehicles: Replace fluid at 6 years/96,000 km's (whichever occurs first)
- 2012 to 2018 Vehicles: Replace fluid at 5 years/100,000km's (whichever occurs first)
For more information on the maintenance schedule for your vehicle, please click here.
Unfortunately, all warranty inspections or repairs must take place at an authorized Subaru Dealer by Subaru Factory Trained Technicians.
Any repairs performed under the CVT Warranty Enhancement Program are warranted for a minimum of 1 year/20,000 km's or the remainder of the total 10 year/160,000km Enhanced Warranty, whichever is greater. This includes vehicles that have exceeded 160,000 km as of the date of the date on the customer notification letter.
Please contact your nearest authorized Subaru Dealer for more information.
